Kersal Wetlands

We are returning to the River Irwell at Kersal wetlands on Sunday 26th Janurary . A little work party to clean up the river bank. A 10am start - Drive through the gates of Kersal wetlands on Littleton Rd Salford near the Racecourse Hotel M7 3SE and follow the signs/directions to our blue gazebo.

All equipment provided including hot drinks and chocolate biscuits... in exchange for a couple of hours hard graft .

It's great fun - it's rewarding - and you can make a big differnce.

Millbrook NFM

We will be adding posts and adding willow to previously built leaky dams in Stalybridge Country Park in Millbrook. Using 'Natural Flood Management' techniques to slow the flow and help reduce the risk of flooding to nearby residential properties. No experince neccessary.

Meeting at 10am at the Hartley St entrance SK15 3FH. (Parking is limited, further parking can be found off Besom Lane SK15 3EY).

All tools and PPE (gloves, hi-viz vests & safety glasses) are provided.

Please wear suitable clothing and footwear (preferably wellington boots) and bring along a packed lunch.

River Mersey

Join us on the bank of the River Mersey for a 10.30am start at the bottom of Vale Rd, Stockport for a litter pick.

We will be litter picking the area starting at Vale Rd down the northern bank of the Mersey to Manchester Rd bridge.

 

All equipment provided (gloves, hi-viz vests, litter pickers and bin bags).

We will be litter picking the river bank adjacent to Cowling St down the eastern bank of the Irwell down to the red footbridge.

River Tame - Roaches Lock off Manchester Rd, Mossley. OL5 5BB.

We are returning to the River Tame 10am - 1pm Saturday 15th February.

A "in" river and riverbank clean up, meeting at the far end of the Roaches Lock Inn car park in Mossley OL5 5BB, look for our MRT Gazebo (please only park in the pub car park if you intend to use the pub afterwards).

In the event the river levels are too high for safe entry we will have to cancel this event.

Mersey Rivers Trust staff and volunteers who have waders will enter the river to remove any debris or rubbish we find. Those who do not wish to enter the river or don't have waders will assist from the bank to remove the debris, rubbish and any litter from the bank to the collection point. The access to the walled in town centre stretch of river is via small set of Victorian steps.
