Japanese Visit to Salford Quays
Caroline Riley spent her first day at the Mersey Rivers Trust, 1st November 2013, at Salford Quays hosting a visit by Tatsuya Ando from the Japenese River Restoration Centre. Heather Webb of APEM Ltd showed him the highly acclaimed aeration project for the Manchester Ship Canal. The site visit was organised by the River Restoration Centre in Britain and delivered in partnership with APEM Ltd and the Environment Agency. Tatsuya wished to visit the River Mersey on a tour of Swiss and UK river restoration projects. He saw many parallels with projects he works on in Japan and was impressed by the size of the project and the ship canal.
